Cake in a Cup Gift

A Cake Cup - My Twist on a Sweet Gift and Under $4

I'm sure many of you have seen this idea.  I call it the Cake Cup - some call it the "3-2-1 Microwave Cake in a Cup," but no matter what you call it; it's simple, sweet, delicious, easy and thoughtful.

I got my mugs at Walmart for $1.97 in light and dark blue.  These were Christmas "happies" I made for my co-workers.  Great to remember for  -- babysitters, teachers, caregivers, etc. (To save more you can go to the dollar store and get Christmas mugs.)

I made a little card using copyright free clipart off of Word and typed instructions over the clipart.

Recipe & Instructions

First, take a box of angel food cake mix and a box of any flavored cake mix and put the two mixes in a gallon ziplock bag and then shake, shake, shake. Then measure 3 tablespoons of the mixture into a cup.

I put the cake mixture in snack bags. See where I got this tip below and first saw the idea.

Second, add 2 tablespoons of water to the cake mix and stir.  Third, microwave on high for 1 minute.

I also made a sugar glaze mixed with water (not milk because of the dairy) and put a small amount in treat bags (3x4) and sealed with a twist tie.

I put this label on the back of the card and also tied a tablespoon (measuring spoon) to the card.  I searched and finally found individual tablespoons (measuring spoons) for less than a $1 here.

Then, I put the cake mix and the icing in a cellophane gift bag and tied it with ribbon.

I tied a bow on the handle of the cup and inserted the card.

All of these are just ideas, you don't have to put the mix in separate bags or include the icing.  You don't even have to include the cup. -- You could put a larger amount of the cake mix in an air-tight container and include the card with instructions to keep in the refrigerator for Christmas guests to have anytime they get a sweet tooth

I think it's such a novelty idea and you get a hot sweet mini cake they think they baked themselves!!

I got this idea from Kitty's Kozy Kitchen and her's are so pretty too!  And she also shares where she got the recipe.  May the gift continue...

Let us know how you presented your Cake Cups!!!  Any ideas? Please share.  Love to get comments from you!
